4 Ways to Enjoy the Holidays in DC
See The Lights
Beautifully lit from sundown until 10pm nightly, the National Christmas Tree is a longstanding DC holiday tradition. Since 1923, the tree as well as The Ellipse and The Pathway to Peace is adorned with thousands of lights just beaming for your next photo op. Now through January 1st, each night delivers music from performers from all over the country, and admission is open to general public.
Zoo Lights at Smithsonian’s National Zoo is a way to take in the flashing lights and embrace the animal-lover in you. This is a great date-night idea or an adventure for your whole crew. With more than 500,000 environmentally-friendly LED lights, the Zoo will be poppin’ with light shows set to music, now until January 1st. Free of charge: you can get into the holiday mood without spending your hard-earned coins.
